Hawkeye will join the game’s launch lineup of 33 playable characters, each with different skills and specialities. He’ll be available alongside characters such as Doctor Strange, Groot, Hela, Jeff the Land Shark, and Magneto. All of the game’s characters will be unlocked and free-to-play at launch and into the future.

The new Birnin T'challa map, meanwhile, will take players to a futuristic city from the world of Black Panther.

A press release provided details about the Birnin T’Challa map:

"As a futuristic, interstellar city of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, the highly developed Birnin T'challa has a unique urban landscape featuring high density vibranium skyscrapers combined with traditional African tribal architectural styles, presenting the bold, distinctive imagination of Afrofuturism. The totemism and religious beliefs of old never left Wakanda—statues of Bast, the Black Panther goddess, can be seen all throughout the city in a variety of forms, ranging from vibranium statues to holographic projections."

Upon release, a month-long launch season will kick off in Marvel Rivals called “Dooms’ Rise.” Throughout the season, eight maps will be featured in the game’s Quick Match and Competitive Modes, alongside a Conquest Map and a Practice Range. An optional Battle Pass will also be available for purchase, giving buyers the opportunity to unlock costumes and cosmetic items for the game’s heroes. Outside of the Battle Pass, an in-game store will offer optional items for purchase.
